FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 31, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Two-time Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl champion, business executive, and nonprofit leader, James Washington has joined the ownership group of Three Wide Brewing Co., a Fort Worth-based brewery and hospitality destination. Washington will support the company’s business development, marketing, sales, and community-engagement efforts.
As a member of the Three Wide Brewing ownership group, Washington plans to work directly with the brewery’s marketing and sales teams, help develop business relationships, and expand awareness of the Three Wide brand. He also intends to support the brewery’s community-engagement efforts throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Washington discussed the investment Monday during a media event at Three Wide Brewing, outlining why he joined the ownership group and how he plans to contribute to the brewery’s growth.
“I came back to North Texas because I see an opportunity to help build another championship team,” Washington said. “I’m here to be involved by working with the marketing and sales teams, opening doors, and bringing more eyeballs to Three Wide. As we grow the business, I want us to grow our impact in the community too. Winning has always been about the team, and that’s the same approach I’m bringing here.”
Washington’s relationship with members of the Three Wide Brewing ownership group began four years ago. The investment gives him an opportunity to apply his experience in business development, relationship building, and the beverage industry while reconnecting with a community where he spent five seasons as a member of the Dallas Cowboys.
“James has always been a playmaker, but what really sets him apart is his ability to see the whole field,” said Roger Ma, Founder of Three Wide Brewing Co. “As a safety, he was responsible for making sure everyone understood the call and executed together. That translates directly to what we’re building at Three Wide. We have a lot of moving pieces – brewing, operations, sales, marketing, events, and community engagement – and James has the ability to connect those pieces, open doors, and help the entire team move in the same direction.”
Washington played eight seasons in the National Football League, including five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys from 1990 through 1994. He was a member of the Cowboys teams that won Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII.
His career since professional football has spanned investment, higher education, fundraising, athletics, nonprofit leadership, and the beverage industry. Washington currently serves as president of the Rose Bowl Institute, an organization focused on sportsmanship, leadership, citizenship, education and community engagement, and as CEO and Founder of Shelter 37, a nonprofit he established in 1993 to support children and young adults whose lives have been affected by crime, violence or abandonment.
Washington previously served as president of AJK Investment, worked in advancement and major-gift development at UCLA, and served as director of advancement and head football coach at Bishop Alemany High School. He also has extensive experience in the beverage business, including work in the ready-to-drink category.
Washington’s experience in business development, relationship building, community engagement, and the beverage industry will support Three Wide Brewing’s efforts to expand its customer base, strengthen sales and marketing, develop strategic relationships, and deepen its connection to the North Texas community.
His addition to the ownership group also strengthens Three Wide Brewing’s connection to Dallas-Fort Worth sports culture while supporting the brewery’s broader focus on craft beer, live entertainment, sports, and community events.
