What Happened

According to regulatory filings, an unauthorized party accessed and obtained files from certain Amplifon systems between January 18 and February 8, 2026. Amplifon determined on October 6, 2026 (roughly eight months after the access window closed) that personal information may have been affected. The company has described the incident as a network security incident and has not identified ransomware, a vendor, or the method of intrusion.

Amplifon reported the incident to the Vermont Attorney General on November 5, 2026, identifying 1,027 Vermont residents, and to the Texas Attorney General on November 6, 2026, reporting a company-wide total of 1,332,826 individuals affected, including 85,804 Texas residents. Amplifon has said it is notifying affected individuals by U.S. mail and through a posting on its website.

What Information Was Exposed

According to the filings, the personal information involved may include:

  • Names, addresses, and dates of birth
  • Driver's license numbers and other government-issued identification numbers
  • Medical and health-related information, medical record numbers, and health insurance information
  • Financial account information and Social Security numbers (affecting a limited number of individuals)

Who May Be Affected

The investigation focuses on individuals whose information Amplifon (USA) maintained during January–February 2026, including hearing-benefit members, retail hearing-care patients, and possibly employees. The filings do not state whether Amplifon is offering complimentary credit monitoring or identity protection, so affected individuals should review any notice they receive for the details.

Your Legal Options

Edelson Lechtzin LLP is investigating a potential class action on behalf of individuals whose data may have been compromised. A successful case could recover compensation for losses such as lost time, out-of-pocket costs, and loss of privacy. The firm evaluates claims at no cost.

Recommended Steps to Protect Yourself

  • Watch for the notice from Amplifon by mail and keep it, along with any enrollment details for protection services it offers.
  • If your Social Security number is listed, place a credit freeze with Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, obtain your free reports at AnnualCreditReport.com, and consider an IRS Identity Protection PIN.
  • Review your explanation-of-benefits statements for hearing exams, devices, or services you did not receive, and report suspected identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission at IdentityTheft.gov.
