American AgCredit Completes Capital Transaction -- Proceeds support rural America
PR Newswire
SANTA ROSA, Calif., Sept. 16, 2026
SANTA ROSA, Calif., Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- American AgCredit, a member-owned Farm Credit cooperative, issued $150 million of subordinated notes into the private capital markets – generating capital to support its mission of serving U.S. agriculture and rural communities.
"Farmers and ranchers need reliable, consistent credit to grow and thrive, and it's our job to provide this financing," said Curt Hudnutt, President and CEO of American AgCredit. "This issuance is primarily a capital optimization transaction that helps us effectively manage our cost of capital to maintain a strong financial foundation. This allows us to support the success of the more than 12,000 farmers and ranchers who own American AgCredit."
The cooperative's customers represent a variety of agricultural sectors, including beef, vineyards and wineries, tree fruits and nuts, field crops, dairies, and forest products. According to Hudnutt, this diversification – and the expertise American AgCredit has to finance it – helps drive its success and gives investors a unique opportunity to participate in the long-term growth and profitability of U.S. agriculture.
The subordinated notes bear interest at the rate of 6.75% for the first 10 years and reset quarterly thereafter through maturity in 2041. The proceeds from the offering, together with cash on hand, were used to redeem $200 million of American AgCredit outstanding Series A Preferred Stock. Piper Sandler & Co. acted as the sole initial purchaser. McDermott Will & Schulte served as legal counsel to American AgCredit, and Dorsey & Whitney, LLP served as legal counsel to the initial purchaser.
