Teamsters Demand City Council Pass Logistics Reform Ordinance
CHICAGO, Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of Amazon Teamsters in Chicago will be joined by local elected officials and labor and civil society coalition allies for a rally on Tuesday, September 15. The workers will be calling on the Chicago City Council to ban Amazon's corrupt third-party Delivery Service Partner model.
The Delivery Protection Act, introduced by Alderwoman Julia Ramirez (D-12th District), would require delivery companies like Amazon to license their facilities with the city and directly hire its workforce, making subcontracted deliveries illegal in Chicago.
This ordinance follows the success of the Teamsters-backed Delivery Protection Act in New York City, which has received supermajority support from the New York City Council and Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The time to pass this critical legislation in Chicago has come.
